ABHA (formerly Health ID) is the foundational building block of India's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. It is a 14-digit number linked to a user's mobile number and demographic information. ABHA allows patients to: consent to share health records with any ABDM-registered provider; view their complete health records digitally; authorize data access for specific purposes on a time-limited basis; and revoke access at any time. For healthcare providers, ABHA integration enables: faster patient registration, reduced duplicate records, access to relevant prior health history, and compliance with the ABDM data governance framework.
