Whole eggs are moderate in phosphorus (198 mg/100g; ~99 mg per egg) due to the yolk. Egg whites are essentially phosphorus-free and an excellent renal protein source. For CKD stages 4-5 and dialysis: limit yolks to 2-3/week and favor egg whites. Whole eggs are fine in early CKD.
Values are approximate, based on USDA FoodData Central and ICMR-NIN Indian Food Composition Tables. Actual values vary by variety, ripeness, serving size, and cooking method. The database rating is a general reference, not an individualized diet recommendation.
